From bubble tea to satay goreng, chow down on these Artbox 2024 exclusive menu items
Artbox 2024 is soon upon us, and will take place over two weekends, on 26 to 28 January and 2 to 4 February at Singapore Expo Hall 2. Once again, the festival will be packed to the seams with food, fun, and activities galore! The massive hall will be home to 180 retail and over 120 F&B vendors, each offering unique items and bites.
Even better, some stalls will be selling Artbox-exclusive menu offerings, available only at the event! We take a look at some of the food stalls that will be carrying these special items.
We REKKOmend:
1. I Love Taimei
Popular Taiwanese snack joint I Love Taimei has outlets littered all across the island, serving up portions of their signature Taiwan night market-inspired fried chicken, bubble tea, and desserts. You can’t miss their giant popup booth, as they look to make a big impact this year.
And for Artbox 2024, they have come up with the Mochi Mochi Tea, a combination of their signature Wintermelon Green Milk Tea, paired with delightful chewy mochi bits. We detect a hint of brown sugar as well, while the mochi bits provide some interesting texture.
2. Mac N Co
Starting out as a home-based business, Mac N Co has since expanded their operations to food trucks and pop-ups at events. Check out their signature Salmon Broccoli Mac & Cheese, which features a blend of three cheeses, bits of broccoli, and topped with an entire slab of Norwegian salmon. Fans of other proteins can look forward to the Chicken Delight, while vegetarians can look forward to the Mushroom Broccoli.
For Artbox 2024, they are debuting the Garlic Prawn Delight, a mac and cheese creation topped with piquant garlicky prawns.
3. Kind Kones
With a presence in both Malaysia and Singapore, Kind Kones stands out in the crowded ice cream scene with their plant-based treats. All of their products are vegan, and do not contain eggs, dairy, and preservatives. Coconut, cashews, and almonds instead form the base of the desserts here. They also make use of natural fruit and sugars instead of refined sugars.
Providing a healthier alternative to the conventional ice creams that are usually loaded with sugar and unhealthy fats, the desserts here strive to provide a better way to indulge in sweet treats guided by a philosophy of being kind to your body, the environment, and to others.
4. AtTea
Founded by Taiwanese singer Jam Hsiao, AtTea opened its first Singapore outlet at Tiong Bahru in 2021, and has since expanded to 5 locations islandwide. Jam himself is supposedly very hands-on with this venture, and every menu item is said to be personally tasted and approved by the mandopop star.
Exclusively for Artbox 2024, AtTea will be selling the Green Grapetopia Delight, a refreshing combination of green grape puree, honey, and jasmine green tea, topped with bits of grape and honey jelly. We also recommend the Genmaicha Cane Roasted Milk Tea, for its fragrant nutty flavour and caramel notes, which plays especially well with the creamy milk.
5. Motorfolks
After a successful first run at last year’s Artbox, Motorfolks is bringing their range of halal gelatos for another appearance! With one-of-a-kind local flavours like Bandung Selasih, Wintermelon Milk, and Grape Yakult, you’re bound to find one that fits your fancy.
And they’re offering you a chance to choose! Check out the Motorfolks Instagram page and comment with a flavour that’s not available on their menu yet, for a chance to try out that new creation for yourself at Artbox 2024.
6. Milkbear
Inspired by the bear milk frappes available in Bangkok’s night markets, Milkbear’s signature milk frappes are made with Thailand’s national obsession, Bear brand milk. Smooth, creamy, and milky, these blended drinks are a delicious treat any time of the day.
In addition to their drinks, Milkbear’s Toasticles will also be available. Think thick slices of toast cut into long rectangles, skewered, then topped with either chilli crab or s’mores.
If you prefer a more substantial meal, their new menu item Seafood Yum Mama will be launched at Artbox 2024. We enjoyed this noodle-in-a-bucket concept, as it is packed with bold and tangy tom yum flavours, and generous amounts of seafood.
7. Whiskdom x Bigbig Fries
Another pandemic home-based business success, Whiskdom is known for their molten lava brownies and chunky cookies. Now, the bakery has since expanded to four outlets, located at North Bridge Road, Orchard Central, One Raffles Place, and Fusionopolis.
Their Artbox 2024 exclusive is a Mao Shan Wang Brownie. Ridiculously dense and rich, these brownies have a molten centre of premium mao shan wang durian. The durian paste is also coloured in a visually arresting black, creating an eye-catching, yet equally delicious dessert.
And partnering them is Big Big Fries, purveyor of comically large fried potato strips. How large? They’re usually about 25cm long, which is about the length of your forearm. Yes, we measured. And for Artbox 2024, they’re debuting a new signature mentaiko sauce and chicken floss special.
8. Satay of Cikdok
Pop-up concept Satay of Cikdok comes from, as they say, satay royalty. A spin-off from Mazlan Satay located at Sembawang, Satay of Cikdok focuses on a slightly different menu, while making full use of its family satay recipe.
Their signature is the Satay Goreng, where sliced satay-marinated meats (chicken, mutton, or beef) trade in the familiar skewers for a quick grilling on a flattop, for a maximum meat experience. Served with cucumber, onions, and ketupat, this tradition with a twist is best enjoyed with copious servings of their signature peanut sauce.
Also available are Satay Cheesesteaks and Satay Smashburgers, which both feature the classic satay meats paired with cheese and buns.
