Google’s Huat Pals 2024 is back, and YouTrip has a new game
It’s Chinese New Year again, and you know what that means! Google Pay’s Huat Pals 2024 is back for yet another edition, this time with a whole new set of Pals. But that’s not all. YouTrip has introduced their own game, called Dragon Hunt.

Google’s Huat Pals 2024
Google Pay’s Huat Pals is back, and this year the grand prize is a brand new Google Pixel 8 Pro, worth $1,549! Of course, there are other prizes for players to win, such as a Google Pixel 8 (worth $1,099), Pixel Buds Pro (worth $299), and Pixel Buds A-series (worth $149), along with scratch cards worth up to $88.88!
Similar to previous years, users have to perform tasks on the Google Pay app to earn a random Huat Pal. When you’ve earned all 5 unique Huat Pals, they can be exchanged for a prize.
This year’s Pal roster (no, not Palworld) is a completely new lineup, made up of
- Xixi Haha (two mandarin oranges stacked on top of each other)
- Ah Bong (a traditional Chinese drum)
- Macho Meow (a lucky fortune cat)
- Hop Pop (a string of firecrackers)
- Souper Loong (looks like a pair of chopsticks picking up xiaolongbao – pls clarify @Google)
As always, these tasks have to do with using the different functions of Google Pay in several methods. If you’ve used Google Pay for even the shortest amount of time, you can probably guess what these tasks entail.
Thankfully, these tasks reset every day, which means you can perform them on a daily basis.
The daily tasks are:
- Send a payment of at least $5 to merchants using QR code of UEN
- Send a FavePay transaction of at least $5
- Purchase movie tickets on Google Pay
- Send at least $10 to a friend via Google Pay
- Gift a Huat Pal to a friend and receive one bonus Pal per unique friend you gift
A new feature this year is the Huat Match minigame. Basically a match-3 game similar to Candy Crush, the objective of Huat Match is to match 3 or more auspicious icons in a row, and get as many points as possible.
If you score above 450 points, you get an additional Huat Pal!
Google Pay’s Huat Pals runs from 6 to 18 Feb 2024, so get those daily tasks going!
YouTrip’s Dragon Hunt 2024
This year’s newcomer is YouTrip’s Dragon Hunt game.
The rules here are quite basic. All you have to do is send sums of money (or e-Angbaos) to another user, and you’ll get a Lucky Dragon each. Post the transaction on Instagram Stories, with the tag @YouTripSG and hashtag #ytcny2024, then see if you win!
There are a total of five Lucky Dragons, and they each correspond to a prize amount that you can win.
The Lucky Dragons are:
- Diboo, with a cash prize of $8,888
- Rayoo, with a cash prize of $888
- Hakoo, with a cash prize of $188
- Dragoo, with a cash prize of $88
- Mushoo, with a cash prize of $8
The higher the prize amount, the fewer the number of winners, so even if you get Diboo, that doesn’t mean you win the prize immediately!
However the good thing is, there’s no minimum limit to the amount per transaction, and it seems you can keep sending e-Angbaos to the same person to receive a Lucky Dragon. So, just keep sending small amounts of money back and forth to the same person, and you might get the chance to win $8,888!
